Situated in the North
Atlantic Ocean, the Turks and Caicos are two groups of islands. Though
in geographical terms they are a part of the Bahamas, they are an
overseas territory of Great Britain. As with the Bahamas, Turks and
Caicos snorkeling is excellent. The clear waters are filled with
underwater delights and are easily accessed from the shore. The island
of Provo is known as one of the worlds top scuba diving spots, but there
is also fantastic snorkeling off the shore. Smith’s Reef can be easily
accessed from the beach and has been added to with a snorkeling trail.
Brightly colored orange balls hold tiles that explain some of the coral,
fish and other ocean animals that are seen in the area. It is a great
way to add to the experience of snorkeling and take home some new
knowledge. In addition, this snorkeling in Turks and Caicos adventure
offers a friendly moray eel, several resident sea turtles and graceful
eagle rays. Another Turks and Caicos snorkeling experience is a trip to
Iguana Island that combines excellent reef diving with the chance to see
the endangered, but friendly, rock iguanas.
