It’s often
said there’s not a bad day to go snorkeling in Fiji, with warm weather
and clear water the norm throughout the year (May and October being the
best). This archipelago is made up of over 320 islands, and with
non-stop flights available from as far away as the United States, Fiji
is one of the most easily accessible destinations for a truly South
Pacific snorkeling experience.
Fiji is home
to three different kinds of reefs (barrier reefs, fringing reefs, and
atolls), and is often referred to as the “Soft Coral Capital of the
World.” With superb visibility (over 30 meters) enjoying the over 400
species of coral isn’t difficult.
One of the
most exciting destinations in the islands is an extinct volcano crater
knows as the Beqa Lagoon. A trip to the famous Mamanuca and Yasawa
islands is also must. However, with great coral accessible just off most
shores, beginners who don’t wish to rent a boat or charter a trip are
just as likely to enjoy their Fiji snorkeling experience.
