The Big Island of Hawaii
is a paradise destination that disappoints no one, including snorkelers.
Kahaluu Beach Park has some of the best snorkeling on the Island, with
frequent sightings of sea turtles and pretty much guaranteed sightings
of schools of colorful fish. South of Kona, you’ll find Ko’okena Beach
Park, with calm, clear waters.
You can only reach Pawai
Bay by catamaran, but it’s worth the effort to visit this marine
sanctuary that is teeming with dolphins, manta rays and sea turtles.
Pawai Bay is considered by most experts to be the best snorkeling spot
on the Big Island. And the white sand beaches of Hapuna Beach State Park
in the NW part of the island
offer excellent big island snorkeling - just head to the south end of
the beach to get started.
