Usually when we go to the Virgin Islands, St. John is our first choice as a snorkeling destination. But reading this makes us wonder if we’ve been giving St. Croix short shrift.

We’ve snorkeled St. Croix before, of course, but it’s been a while. Maybe it’s time to go back!

We all love reef fish. But most prefer to see them in the ocean, not in a fish tank. But a big retailer has another take on things, and that’s got Snorkel Bob hot under the collar, so the speak.

Being mindful of your surroundings at all times is of paramount importance.

We don’t know if this snorkeler had floated a diver-down flag when he was struck by a 25-foot boat in a hit and run accident recently. But it’s a good idea to use a diver-down flag (whether its legally required or not) so you’ll be easier to spot in the water.

CNN Money highlights the problems businesses in Destin, FL are facing – including a snorkeling business that’s been hit hard.

For the record, the beaches are clean and the water is clear. Grab your gear and get going. This is a great time to enjoy snorkeling on the Gulf Coast without the crowds.

Michigan borders four of the Great Lakes, and there are more than 11,000 inland lakes.

Bottom line: Michigan is a great spot for freshwater snorkeling.

While snorkeling for a living may seem like a dream job, safety should always be your first priority –  there may be some unexpected hazards in the workplace!

Consider the story of the central Florida man who was snorkeling in a nature park – just another day in the office for this environmental services monitor – when he was “nailed in the neck” by an 11 1/2-foot, 525-pound alligator.

The man suffered a broken jaw but is expected to recover.
